June 2010
TAI has successfully submitted a PCT patent application for its drinking water cooler. This unique type of application will allow TAI to explore protection for this exciting new product in various countries. Once key
international markets have been identified, TAI will apply for patent protection in those countries. Overseas patent protection will be critical as TAI explores the possibility of marketing the drinking water cooler in
foreign markets.
May 2010
Following up on a strong desire to investigate the potentially large commercial market for its drinking water cooler, TAI conducted a product marketing survey consisting of over 400 respondents. The survey was a tremendous success and the overwhelming amount of positive feedback was quite encouraging. TAI now plans to produce a large batch of drinking water coolers that will be supplied to beta testers in order to obtain valuable field data. TAI is also talking to potential industry partners as they move forward with the commercialization of this new product.
April 2010
TAI delivered the first working prototype to the Navy of a drinking water cooler. The drinking water cooler is designed to attach to a backpack personal hydration system for soldiers in hot desert climates. The cooler will cool down the drinking water so that the soldiers will drink more water and not become dehydrated. TAI feels there is a large commercial market for this patent pending device as well.
February 2010
TAI recently completed a commercial order for some of their high-performance graphite thermal straps. If these preliminary straps meet stringent design criteria and tests, there will be substantial follow-on orders for the straps.
January 2010
TAI relocated their offices within Boulder, resulting in a more efficient facility and the opportunity to combine offices with a sister company, Tech BizSolutions, Inc. The phone number, fax number and e-mail addresses will remain the same for the company. Some phone extensions were changed so please either use the directory or contact the operator to reach your contact in the company.
January 2010
TAI's quality management system was recertified as meeting the new ISO-9001:2008 quality standards following an NSF review. TAI has maintained an ISO approved quality system for over 4 years now and this most recent upgrade assures that TAI continues to provide world class quality in the engineering design community.
December 2009
TAI delivered a design for a highly thermally conductive vibration isolation strap to a commercial customer. TAI's engineering expertise and design capabilities were key selection criteria for this large industrial laser producer in selecting the TAI team for this design effort.
September 2009
TAI has received a contract from the Department of Energy for a Phase II SBIR effort in developing a flexible cryostat for superconducting transmission lines. Work will begin immediately on this program.
July 2009
Dr. Robert Mohling sold Technology Applications, Inc. to Brian Sperry. Dr. Mohling will continue to work at TAI, serving as a senior scientist and advisor. Mr. Sperry & Dr. Mohling worked together previously at both Beech Aircraft Corp. and Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. Mr. Sperry is a successful entrepreneur who has directed the growth of several other small businesses, especially small government contracting firms.

Company President Robert Mohling and Principle Investigator Rolf Baumgartner attended the forum, where
Rolf gave a presentation detailing TAI's personal drinking water cooler program.
TAI also manned an information booth in the Exhibit Hall.
