SipChiller™ |
SipChiller™ Portable Drinking Water Cooler System (Patent Pending)
|
The SipChiller™ was initially developed for the Marine Corp to help soldiers who were stationed in desert regions maintain an addequate level of hydration thus enabling them to perform more effectively in combat.
In hot dry climates, the human body requires an average of nine quarts of water per day. The water within backpack style hydration bladders used by military, law enforcement, backpackers, byciclists and other outdoor enthusiasts will rapidly reach ambient temperatures. In a desert environment during summer, these temperatures can reach as high as 125°F in the shade. Not only is water at this temperature not palatable, it also adds sensible heat to an already-overheated person. Consumption of such hot water is therefore often avoided, which leads to dehydration and heat related illnesses such as heatstroke.
The SipChiller™ was designed to provide cool drinking water that is sufficiently below body temprature to help the user maintain a prefered hydration level which in desert climates is extremely important. During hot temperatures consuming water that is below body temperature is useful for hydration. It is also recommended that smaller amounts of cool water be consumed at frequent intervals rather than drinking occasional large volumes of hot water to prevent wasteful, excessive sweating, as well as heat cramps.
Who can benefit?
The SipChiller™ is a compact, lightweight source of cool drinking water that decreases the potential for heat-related illnesses for individuals engaged in strenuous and recreational activities in hot dry environments. The SipChiller™ has many applications for hydration systems that are used by bicyclists, backpackers, hikers, military, law enforcement, individuals engaged in hazardous waste cleanup, firefighting, and other occupations that require wearing restrictive industrial garments that can cause a person to rapidly overheat. The SipChiller™ is not limited to use by these individuals, anyone that would welcome cool refreshing drinking water would find such a device beneficial.

SipChiller™ Applications
|
The SipChiller™ is very versatile when mounting it to differnt hydration systems. It can be mounted to any hydration system that provides water to the user via a tube or hose. The SipChiller™ can even be mounted to hyration systems that pressurize the drinking water for a "suck-less" supply of water.
