Copper Thermal Strap Assemblies (CuTS) |
Custom Designed & Fabricated CuTS Assemblies
|
Technology Applications, Inc. designs and fabricates copper thermal strap assemblies for heat transfer (below 90°K) from power dissipation components such as cryocooler compressors, electronics, and radar electronics that dissipate anywhere from forty watts to several hundreds of watts and require an efficient thermal strap for transferring heat to the heat rejection radiator.
CuTS assemblies are constructed using annealed ETP copper for the end fittings and braid. They have demonstrated excellent thermal efficiencies at low temperatures and no out gassing for sterile environments. These straps offer more flexibility over graphite to accommodate installation in complex routing geometries and alignment tolerances, relative structural movements due to vibration and thermal
contractions, and bending motions.
Technology Applications, Inc. can perform a complete system analysis to determine the heat load of components, and the routing geometries required for your system. If your system requires just one CuTS or hundreds, each assembly must pass quality checks and undergo thermal conductance tests after construction to verify system compliance.
CuTS Features & Benefits:
- "In house" design and fabrication of custom CuTS assemblies to meet customer specifications.
- Overall thermal conductance is tested before they ship to the customer.
- Low loss attachment end fittings.
- Can be routed in complex geometries.
- Highly flexible.

Standard CuTS Assembly for Evaluation |
Technology Applications, Inc. produces annealed ETP copper braid thermal straps on a custom designed and fabricated basis. However, due to customer requests for a standard CuTS unit for evaluation, TAI has designed a simplified unit based on an existing application. This simplified CuTS assembly is designed primarily for customers to experience and evaluate the effectiveness of annealed ETP copper as an efficient heat removal system for heat loads below 90°K.
- Approximate length: 21.6 cm
- Approximate width: 5.1 cm
- Conductance at 330°K: 0.210 W/K*
- Projected conductance at 8°K: 0.322 W/K*
- Approximate Weight: 345 g
- Annealed ETP copper end fittings
* Due to the construction process overall conductance will vary slightly.
